PAN-FANDOM FRIENDSHIP FANWORKS FEST
Oct. 26th, 2011 11:34 amALL TYPES of fan products welcome: art, fic, fanmixes, videos, podfics, meta discussions, rec lists, etc.
Anything goes, as long as friendship is involved somehow.
There's no rule against sex or romantic relationships--friends-with-benefits and pre-slash works are more than welcome. (And yes, best-friends-in-love counts.)
All lengths of fic, from drabbles (or shorter!) to multi-part WIPS. The angstiest angst or the fluffiest fluff.
It could be about friendships between duos or groups. (Or, hey, even friendship with oneself)
Friendships between people, or between people and animals, or between people and computers/robots/alien entities.
Got a cross-fandom crack friendship pairing you want to see? This is a good place to do it.
HOW IT WORKS:
♦Feel free to post prompts, or to post your fanworks unprompted.
♦Please specify if you're OK with concrit.
♦Please list the fandom, characters, and any triggers/warnings in the subject heading. Also, specify whether you are posting a prompt, fic, art, podfic, meta, etc.
♦You are free to participate logged in or anonymously.
♦NEW RULE: Please specify in the header if your fanwork includes sex or an explicitly romantic relationship involving the main pairing. This way, people looking for strictly platonic (or otherwise) fanwork can find that right away. Although this system doesn't necessarily take into account the possible complexities and blurred boundaries between different kinds of relationships, it was the best I could think of. (If you can think of a better way, I'm open to suggestion!)
GO FORTH AND MAKE SOME FRIENDLY THINGS!
A brief(ish) note: I understand that, in allowing romantic relationships in the main pairings, I run the risk of appearing to encourage a bunch of romance fics with the friendship element backgrounded. This was not my intention at all. I'll fully admit that I have a weakness for works where couples truly like each other and conceptualize their relationship as a friendship as well as a romance. I also enjoy platonic cuddles, intense friendships bordering on the romantic, and friends-with-benefits in fanworks.
But I, and lots of people I know, have been yearning for fic where characters, even our romantic OTPs, are purely platonic friends who just really, really like and respect each other and possibly have awesome adventures.
Basically, INFINITE DIVERSITY IN INFINITE COMBINATIONS, as the Vulcans say. /trekkie
The main point is: my intention in hosting this fest is to celebrate and explore the idea that fictional (and real) relationships don't need romance in order to be interesting and fulfilling. And I am open to suggestions for how to make this all work better for everyone. ♥
